Khan outworks him in the early stages and gets tagged in the middle rounds and staggers, Mathysse likes to throw nice straight punches and Khan tends to lean forward on the offensive, Khan gets hurts and holds and needs to recover in the next round but adjusts and takes the fight on a reasonable decision
Oh dont get me wrong I believe Mathysse is a much better fighter than Maidana, In fact thats the fight I want to see next at LWW if Mathysse can beat Soto (which Ill believe he can do) But although he was robbed against Judah he still wasnt active enough to stop him, Khan is constantly active which is going to rack up points in the fight. Its all a matter of question if Lucas catches Khan, how much damage would that do? I think Khan has proved he can stand up to a hard shot long enough to recover But this fight wont happen, Mathysse's stock fell when he got robbed by Judah and Alexander and Khan will shortly be moving north to 147 after Peterson and maybe Garcia. Soto - Maidana - Garcia - Peterson - Alexander 2 - Khan is the most logical choice for the argentinian, he needs to beat some more big names before he can be considered for bigger fights (despite how i think he deserves a lot more)
I really wanted to see this fight. If Matthysse is his usual self, then Khan could have an easier time with him than he did with Maidana and Peterson. Simply because he wouldn't be dealing with the same relentless pressure. Matthysse is a little more patient and picks his shots more carefully. The pace that he works to would suit Khan a little more. That's not to say Khan would beat him, though. With his chin and Matthysse's power, anything could happen.
Best fight in the division right now. Khan builds up a healthy lead but LM starts catching up with him around (late) 7.Khan survives a torrid eighth to come back and take the ninth but LM knows he needs to stop him and comes out swinging in the 10th. Stops Amir end of the 10th or Freddie intervenes early 11th,with LM only winning 3-4 rounds at most.
Khans chin only appears terrible because of one brilliant but lucky punch, Matthysse wouldn't beat Khan, true he would have him running towards the end, but he wouldn't KO him or outbox him. Khan UD/TKO
