Who wins this one? Matthysse is one of my favourite fighters in the sport and I'd love to see him get a chance for a big payday against Khan. For me, Matthysse walks through Khan and stops him in around 4 or 5 brutal, painful rounds.
Matthysse, perhaps in the first round. As soon as he catches up with Khan it'll be all over. He's a harder puncher than Garcia, and won't be overrawed in the slightest.
This. I don't think Khan would be able to hurt Matthysse like he did Maidana. Matthysse just walks him down after 4-5 rounds.
ODLH tweeted during the Matthysse fight something like "Wowww Lucas is a bad man", it would be very interesting to hear his views on this potential match up. Khan said he wanted to "clean up at 140 then move up to 147" but can anybody honestly see Khan stepping inside the ring with Matthysse when in the past he has avoided rematches with Prescott and Maidana? I honestly believe Matthysse could end his career. Matthysse will be the reason Khan moves to 147. I expect Khan to step up to 147 after telling us Garcia is scared to rematch him and the rest of the 140lb'ers are below his level... then try and tempt Shane Mosley out of retirement or want a fight in Bolton with Junior Witter telling us "Witter is a dangerous fighter, he is a former WBC Champion" and then after Mosley or Witter go after Paulie Malignaggi... And in between these fights slag off Kell Brook in nearly every interview and ramble on with comments like "I'm not giving him a payday", call Mayweather a coward because Floyd is not jumping at the chance to fight a legend like himself while all the time telling anybody who is stupid enough to listen he is a "superstar of the sport" and a "legend".
Matthysse is destroying guys with good punch resistance. Quite scary what he would do to Khan, I mean that in a serious way. Khan wouldn't be getting up for a ref to make a decision.
The thing I like about Matthysse is that he throws hard punches in every minute of every round. He is busy but unlike guys who get to around 100 punches per round, his shots are always hard and accurate rather than flapping arm punches purely to get the judges attention. He is a serious, relentless puncher with variation and technique. I think Khan would struggle to stay away from him. Matthysse is good at closing opponents down and Khan doesn't hit hard enough to give Matthysse anything to worry about. The only question then is whether Khan could take the power and I don't think he could, at all.
Khan HAS to be a star, according to some. That's why there'll be continuous demand for him vs the top fighters, both at 140 and 147. He can be smacked around a dozen times and people will still say ''I want to see Khan against Mayweather. If he gets it right he has a chance.....''. He just ain't that good, losing to a diesel tractor like Lamont proved that, to then be sparked by Garcia just added more fuel to the fire. Supposedly elite fighters would muller those two, imagine either of them in with a peak Trinidad, DLH, Mosley, Tszyu.... or even Hatton :nut
Nightmare match up for Khan. His footwork is nowhere near good enough to keep Lucas off him. Especially if he gets caught on the ropes like he always does. Lucas would have a field day. He wouldn't hit hard enough to even make Lucas think twice of walking him down. The straight right to the body Lucas throws would be great against Khan. I'd be surprised if it goes longer than 4 rounds if they were to meet.
Matthysee would destroy him imo. He has excellent power that would be too much for khan, has a solid chin and I don't think khan would hurt him. He can work well to the body and head and when Khan stands on the ropes Matthysee would batter him. Lucas is a decent boxer as well, he's obviously not a technical whiz but he's a good all rounder. Khan might take the fight though, one thing I'll say for khan is that he isn't afraid to fight anyone, he was happy enough to get in the ring with Maidana and Garcia and would have fought Bradley or Alexander had they wanted the fight. It would be bad decision though but staying at 140 is for Khan because the division is full of hard-hitters now and if he fights them he will get caught out again.
I think Matthysse would take some beating at 140 or 147. I'd love to see him in with Pacquiao. Before I get pulled on it, I think he'd come second but it'd be a great fight.
Would consider robbing a bank and putting all the proceeds on Matthyse stoppage. Bet he would open @2/1 or something equally stupid
