Matthysse vs. Maidana, who wins? (Besides us)

That is true. :think I guess to me Matthysse just doesn't seem the type to let old bogeymen haunt him. He seems of harder stuff.

I've gone on record picking Matthysse in this match-up ever since both boxers came to my attention a few years ago. :good I think he wins by late KO in an excellent war.

 

I think Matthysse would definitely hurt Maidana to the body, but against Maidana I don't know if the body attack would work before Maidana's monster head shots took their toll.

Matthysse will hurt him both upstairs and downstairs. I envision him ultimately knocking Maidana out with a right hand to the jaw.

Matthysse hits harder than Ortiz, and has a better chin.

 

I think Vic has more power than Matthysse and more importantly even better punching technique and speed.

Now granted Matthysse has better technique than Maidana, Maidana can take a punch and keep on rolling, Matthysse looked shellshocked at times when Judah caught him, just covering up and going into a shell while falling back. I would think that is when Maidana would finish Lucas.

 

Its tough to pick between the 2 because they are some of my favorites. I have been saying for about a year that Mattyse is for real.
I think he holds alot of advantages on Maidana so he would pull this one out like IB said by TKO. Maidana has shown a leaky defense and thats a big no no against Matthyse. Alexander is known for having a hell of a chin and he could not handle Matthyse power!!
We saw Alexander eat right hands from Urango like they were nothing and when he tasted Matthyse right hand he went down or would get jelly legs.
I dont think any 140 pound fighter can take a clean right from Matthysse and not be hurt.
Maidana makes too many mistakes to get a win here. Im sure he will make it a war and wont stop punching until he is out cold.

As far as Matthysse punching harder than Ortiz im not so sure on that. Ortiz has some serious pop on both the right hook and straight left.

 

I'll be rooting for badass Maidana.

Lucas his a little bigger. I don't think hes more skilled though. I would say they're about the same. The difference IMO is that Lucas can close distant alot better.

Maidana is the heavier handed fighter, more seasoned and we all have seen what Maidana can take and dish out. We have never seen Lucas being pushed to the limit or what he can take.
