I expect Matthysse to knock Postol out, but you never know in boxing..................Matthysse has been cheated many times in America...................
Postol is a decent fighter but not really a better boxer than Matthysse. People need to take their bias goggles off. Maybe blinded because he's foreign He's ukrainian so he must have an iron chin,...etc... Matthysse is no Hank Lundy. He has the tools to actually win against top fighters. Garcia has degressed from their fight and Matthysse has improved more as a boxer. The ability was there but he's improved He's the best at 140. Crawford gets his jaw rearranged and splatters onto the canvas. A step up for Postol.
Matthysse showed boxing skills against Provodnikov and now he's an expert boxer? Provodnikov isn't the hardest guy to outbox, come on. Postol is a tough customer with a very long reach and jab.
He's no journeyman, no. But he hasn't really beaten anyone that special. Basic guys with some little hints of flair like Lundy. A bit of flair with no real substance. No real end product. Aydin and Lundy were the most proven guys he beat. Both very beatable by non C level fighters.
Matthysse will find that extra gear. It was tougher against Provodnikov for obvious reasons. He gives any boxer in his weight class a very tough time. No matter if you're Crawford or Peterson or Garcia,...etc... Provodnikov is tougher than Postol. I guarantee you when Postol feels the power his gameplan will go out the window.
Matthysse is from America in my eyes. Postol is just some eastern european. I don't consider latin american fighters foreign.
If Hank Lundy had success against Postol then Matthysse will. Lundy's a short guy and had success against the taller rangier opponent. I don't see why a guy who hits harder and can brawl and box if need to will have loads of trouble. Matthysse will also be able to dig in deeper off the front foot against Postol unlike against Provodnikov. This will feel like a relief coming from fighting that animal last time out.
Argentina is not even the same continent and they speak a different language id say it is def foreign and i live in the USA
Postol could give Matthysse a lot of problems with his jab and movement. That said, Matthysse could be hellacious for Postol, who usually benefitted in the past from styles match-ups with simplistic come-forward types or guys he could outbox with an eye closed and one hand tied behind his back. A relentless stalking highly accurate boxer-punched with power in both hands is something new to him...
Lundy didn't really have success with Postol, that was a pretty comfortable, wide, clear victory for Victor - but that said, Lundy never fought at his best that day and was clearly phoning in his performance. (I suspected, then and now, some outside-the-ring troubles, as he just wasn't himself)
