So Korobov (15-0) is having his 3rd fight already this year on the Rios-Antillion undercard July 9th against Cuban Lester Gonzalez (12-3). Most importantly Korobov's manager Cameron Dunkin said that in the fall they're looking for a 'real big fight'.

Korobov has been a pro for 2 1/2 years now and had some setbacks having a problem with his sinus that was effecting his breathing which he had to get fixed (something that he apparently had for 5 years but never got addressed) and perhaps more concerning is his apparent struggle to find a trainer. He was last with Mike Mccallum and still is as far as i know but Mccallum is his 4th pro trainer.

Anyways i agree he should have stepped up his compitition several fights ago but it seems that he is about to make a sink or swin leap into the MW mix after this based on his Manager's words. I'm hoping they'll go for a Lee, Sylvester, Rubio level fighter.

Good fight. Lester Gonzales is an exciting fighter, stands in front of you and just bangs it out. VERY limited as a boxer, not your average Cuban outside fighter. Korobov should take it without a problem.

Korobov is good and well skilled. I still think Pirog would beat him tho. I think Pirog is the better of the Russians.

As a Russian, I hope those 2 never fight each other, or at least that they save each other for last.

The Body Snatcher huh? That sounds like a good choice for a trainer, hope it works out for both guys. I can't wait to see Korobov in a real fight, this guy could be right up there quick with Golovkin, Pirog, Sturm, and Martinez. Maybe they could slip him into the IBF tournament if Sylvester and Karmazin drop out.

I would like to see him do well but I just have this feeling he will not pan out. Hard to put my finger on it but I just do not like what I am seeing from him. At least now with the step up in opposition I will gain more definitive information about his chances.

Ditto. Too easy for ****s like Sturm and Chavez to avoid them. Let Golovkin, Pirog and Korobov clean out MW then they can face off.

I think that he has a lot of work to do. By the way he is 28 so the time is ticking.

5-6 years left in his physical prime conservatively. That's a long time.

Maybe he can get another American trainer who puts him through a bunch of meaningless gym wars while neglecting his technical adjustment/advancement at the pro level.

This strategy seems to be working great for Golovkin.:patsch

In all seriousness: Do these Western promoters actually forbid their EE fighters from bringing over trainers from their respective homelands that may actually have a better sense on how to prepare them?

Golovkin's trainer is turning him into a smaller version of Arreola. Minus the indiscriminate cursing and occasional crying.
