Matvey Korobov: This guy deserves a chance!

I don't want him to have his ability defined by what he did in pro boxing as it's just not his forte. It really does taint impressions of how great of a boxer he was under the 3 round construct. I suppose he can still make a decent enough pro career but at 34, his gas tank is only going to go further downhill so he best be quick. His gas tank is as bad as Kovalev's in KovWard2 from what I remembered of him lol.
A career I'd ultimately feel too frustrated to follow, personally.

 

He had a two year run in the amateurs where nobody could touch him, arguably he was the most dominant amateur in the world over that period.

 

Case in point Mike Perez, he got into the CW tourny!

 

That's an absolutely baffling move... Perez has effectively done nothing since losing to Povetkin, all while Glowacki was upsetting Huck, defended against Cunningham(a game albeit extremely faded version) and lost in a game performance to Huck - All at the VERY division where this tournament is taking place. Perez getting in but not him is a complete slap in the face, Perez even being given an alternate spot is unfair. The likes of Makabu, Mchunu, Kalenga, Vlasov, Larena, Kucher - Hell, even old Arslan are more deserving than Perez who has been INACTIVE and has achieved NOTHING at CW.

 

Let me extend that! Durodola, Chakhkiev, Grevor, Masternak, Nielsen, Hunter and even the likes of Tabiti and Cieslak are more deserving on merit alone!

 

Quillin dropped his title and Andrade declined a MW title fight rather than fight him too.

 

Not according to the poster Russell. He claims Perez "deserves" this opportunity to show what he can do. LOL I guess all those who deserved it more can go fly a kite. Perez only got in because he is promoted by Hearn so expect him to get his fight in the U.K. and have the ref and judges in Perez' pocket.

 

For what it's worth.. I think Perez is going to caught cold and knocked out early again. Against a heavy handed and accurate boxer-puncher like MB, he has too many mental lapses to have any real long term success - hell, we don't even know how much the guy has left because the 1 fight he's had in the last 2 years was a Hungarian with an ultra padded record.

I am actually excited to see perez in the tournament a FIT trimmed down perez is dangerous to any cruiserweight.

 

He should probably have better wins given his talent but c'est la vie.
