That is another one I had Dallas edging by a round, 96-94, but I wouldn't have been unhappy with a draw. Even the 96-94 Herrera card was in the realm of possibility. The 98-92 score was bad, and mars the entire result. (ie had the scores been 95-95, 96-94, 96-94 I don't think people would have been as outraged...same as with Provodnikov if the scores had all been 115-113...)

FWIW, I did see him pitching an easy 100-90 shutout over Ji Hoon Kim, whom the judges all awarded a round if not two - so it isn't like Herrera always gets the benefit of the doubt. :yep

Kim is another guy he couldn't get a rematch with even if he wanted to (and even if anybody saw there being any point) - as Kim is with Pelullo.

Yeah, Dallas being with Goossen could work.

As to Garcia vs. Herrera - that if true bespeaks this just being a cash-out for Mauricio. Sign with GBP and let them hurl you down their champ's gullet to be shat out and left to fester. I doubt they'll have any more use for him and will shelve or cut him afterward, while he will be content with his paycheck (with part of it covering his medical bills :!:)

He is tough but not enough to cope with Garcia. Withstanding the onslaught of Provodnikov (before he joined with Roach, back when he was sloppier offensively, and more prone to spurt-fighting and coasting when tired) is entirely different from withstanding Garcia.

It does make a bit of sense for both parties, though. Herrera while only #31 in the WBC is WBA #4 which means a) his last best chance for a title shot is here and now with Garcia, or waiting for the winner of Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Jessie Vargas for the "regular" title...and that's a gamble with Vargas being aligned with Top Rank...and b) for Garcia it does represent a "reasonable" title defense over someone with a high ranking, some television audience familiarity, and streaking on a couple of W's.
