This is vintage Soto Karass, just forking out long jabs and selling out with flailing over/under combos, using quick scissors of his long-legged wide stance to cut the gap and fall in so he's able to keep punching as Herrera tries pulling the rug out and escaping behind a smokescreen of jabs, then slipping and twisting in the pocket to respond with uppercuts. JSK throwing a lot more, Herrera landing a higher clip, both putting in hard work, both landing incidental low blows.

Herrera stepping in wide diagonals to his left and luring Soto Karass into hook-2-hook combos. Soto Karass is blocking what he can and roping out 1-2s marching forward. They body up and start to wing short range hooks to each other's temples and flanks, then briefly tie up. Herrera is muscled into the ropes and manages to counter his way free but gets tagged by a chopping right between the eyes at mid-range. Soto Karass is tired and throwing arm punches, but relentlessly touching Herrera and starting to affect him (more due to fatigue on Herrera's part, but every other chopping right from Soto Karass is getting him flush and stiffening his legs)

Herrera started out well countering off the ropes, but JSK brought the pain in the second half, rocking Herrera and cutting him in the process.

Bravura finish from JSK to take the round, open up a cut and forge ahead on my card. Some very close rounds, so the fight hangs in the balance going into the 10th.

Soto Karass is coming down hard with the right hand lead, backing Herrera up. Stiff jabs frisbeed off the chest by Herrera while slinking away, too exhausted to keep up a guard, hands below his chin or at his side, using turns of his cheek to slip a few of Soto Karass' longer stabs & overhand lobs. Soto Karass finally walks Herrera into the ropes but falls into him, dead tired, shouldering into his stomach until pried off by the ref. Herrera now comes on a bit, landing hooks at short range pinning Soto Karass on the ropes. 45 seconds left. Soto Karass fights his way off, BIG right hands. Soto Karass punches through a Herrera combination and knocks his gloves aside to create a lane for Soto Karass' own straight blasts. Herrera cedes ground and is tagged by a huge right but comes winding inside again to land a looping right and left hook of his own. They continue to land both ways until the final bell.
