What an absolutely bizarre performance from Lara.

 

anyway great performance from Wood to get back in with the boogeyman who sparked him three (!) months ago and outbox him. but I guess it was boring because he wasn’t knocked senseless again

 

Pleased for Wood, but the weight and the lack of being able to fully rehydrate seems to have played a bigger part in his victory tonight.

Lara was at best 5-10% of the fighter he showed in his previous performances in the UK.

Either way all in all it's the correct result.

 

Wood took no damage today. Seems like the City Ground will be next. Master game plan from Davison for throwing the towel in the first fight.

Wood has wins over Xu Can and Mauricio Lara. Fair play.

 

No it was boring because almost nothing happened in 12 rounds. A total dud of a fight.

Something definitely didn't look right

 

Only a short turnaround from the first fight. Lara probably didn’t take training seriously and got the call on short notice. Fight announced on April 1. Lara took it as a lot of money on offer. Hence why he struggled making weight too.

I expect to see Wood Warrington for the World Title towards the end of August at the City Ground. Good to have another stadium event after the Vitality Stadium tonight.

 

Agree, a stadium fight is always good and maybe this goes some way to explaining why Warrington hasn't had another fight lined up. Perhaps the promise was always there for a fight against Wood should he win. If so, Wood would be one of the most active top fighters (which is great to see ) as considering we are almost at June it doesn't give lots of time to recover/train again for a summer fight.

At their ages I would expect it to be their last fight (definitely for the loser) but its a great way to go out

 

lara normally most entertaining man in boxing he was rubbish he was lethargic he had no steam no desire no want to win he was crap or was it he was paid of was he given a big lump of money i make no accusations i ask the questions folk need the answers to was he paid of i mean this is that prat from essex we are talking about weve seen it all before was it a charles martin job was there money involved where it shouldnt be these are the questions we know what mexicans are like

Would be a great all British title fight, hopefully warrington can get back in the mix for titles.

Heard he was contractually required to have the soles of his boots covered in baby oil and only allowed to throw 10 slaps during the fight.
