Another great thread Senor Pepe :good I happened to visit the Mauro Mina Collusiem in Chincha recently, a highlight of my trip. He also has a nephew (or grand nephew possibly???) who is an active boxer. Also love his fight with Hank. Tremendous fight.
Thank You,,,,,,,,Bugger Very Much Appreciated --- Here's one, Following Mauor Mina's unsuccessful attempt at the South American Light-Heavyweight Championship in October 1958 - Mauro won his next '4' bouts. The 25 1/2 year-old Peruvian improved his fne mark to 35-2-1 (26 KO's) - Then on Wednesday Night - September 9, 1959 - The 'Bombardero de Chincha' was to face Dutch Light-Heavyweight from the Netherlands - Wim Snoek. The bout was held at the Estadio Nacional in Lima, Peru - and the bout was to be the 'first live boxing match' ever televised for Peruvian Television. Nearly 17,000 Peruvian fans turned out for the 'historic event'. Mauro Mina, now a World-Class Light-Heavyweight was an overwhelming 6-1 Favorite over the 32 year-old 6' 0" Dutchman, as Wim Snoek had gone a pathetic (2-9-3) in his last '14' bouts, bringing his overall record to 32-18-5 (15 KO's) Talk about a 'safe opponent'. good u r keeping it real . maybe this and such events were d justification 4 his never getting a title shot ? Still a KO over Gregorio Peralta and a beating of Bob Foster which should have helped him climb d rankings in d future when Foster climbed them 4 some reason . rereading his record 2 decisions over Eddie Cotton , although both in Peru , a KO over Von Clay and a far away from home win over Henry Hank as well as some regional achievements 2 his credit do ensure that he was denied of a rightful title shot @ Harold Johnson at least . Archie Wright was 17 yrs Mina's senior so it is hard 4 me 2 blame him on ducking Mina . Although a reigning champion should fight d most 4midable opponents if he is a rightful champion regardless of many things including age but not regardless of everything .

in d Cotton #1 he reminded me of Ken Norton , except that he had a chin , but in d Von Clay it was apparent that he could also fight going backwards and still end d fight effectively . Pity there is no video of Mina's KO over Peralta and that these r no complete fights .

Wednesday Night - October 12, 1960 Acho Arena Bull Ring - Lima, Peru Attendance; 6000 The 27 year-old Mauro Mina is given a very 'difficult' time over 10-Rounds, by Chilean Light-Heavyweight, the 34 1/2 year-old - Humberto Loayza.
