Ali fought everyone the world of boxing had to offer during his prime. Mayweather on the other hand didn't. Being undefeated doesn't make you a better boxer all around.

He'll snap Mayweather's head back with his jab. Although Mayweather will outpoint Cotto in the end by pot shotting, I see Cotto landing punches on him. Mayweather isn't untouchable as you think.

By padding his record pot shotting lightweights and old guys. Seriously, I respect Mayweather's skills and his defense, but you *****s and groupies make boxing look bad. Be a fan of boxing, not Leonard Ellibie.

I don't know why but i find this thread a little offensive. Although i shouldn't.

Floyd always goes on about how he doesn't want to imitate anyone but it's my opinion that Ali is precisely the level he is gunning for. Muhammad Ali truly is 'the face of boxing' and that title is not received as a result of a popularity contest because we all know how much Ali was hated in the earlier part of his career for being so mouthy and converting to Islam.

But he gained the respect of the world by beating the much feared Sonny Liston, twice, and now holds perhaps the greatest professional CV of all time. In his prime he was simply sublime and even after a 3 year lay off he came back to recapture the title twice. His fights with Joe Frasier were epic wars which showed his warrior heart - Mayweather will never be able to prove such a thing because there doesn't seem to be an opponent out there that will test him the way Frasier tested Ali.

Never say never, we haven't seen the conclusion of Mayweather's career but Ali is top 5 a lot of peoples ATG list, no 1 on mine as i never saw Ray Robinson or Willie Pep etc fight enough, and i think Mayweather has been far too selective and boring in his career to ever capture such adoration as Ali has.

he shouldn't be mentioned in the same line with the unbeaten fighters
and the fighters who beat him and he didn't avenged his lose.
