I disagree, he was light on his feet. He looked slow because he faced much smaller and lighter fighters than Joshua. Watch him against the other giants, he was considerably quicker than them.
Joshua has a smaller bone structure & less muscle, despite having all the advantages of modern weight training & nutrition. His acromeglia enabled his strong man life; he did not even eat very much. The point about the size of his opposition & relative speed is relevant. However management fixed many of his fights. Unbeknownst to him. His power did not translate into being a great fighter.
No, you made the comparison. You also said that AJ is the same size as Carnera, even though Primo weighed like 30 lbs more.
Cause he was strong, he was a wrestler, Hulk Hogan was stronger than AJ is and as big as Primo, don`t mean he could box at all though.
He was strong because of genetics primarily, even as a starving teen. Hogan got evebn bigger, due to many years of systematic modern training & plenty of PEDs. Of course none of it says who could box or how well.
I have no doubts that Primo could have whooped anyone on this forum calling him a fraud whether it's in the ring, the street or their own living room.
Not if they were the same size as him, I also think Hulk Hogan could whip anyone on this forum calling him a fraud
Primo Carnera was what he was. He was an unusually large heavyweight for the era, and that gave him a head start. His major disadvantage, was that he was born in Europe. That meant that he had to work much harder than an American fighter, to get to Madison Square Gardens. The Italian Maffia played no role in his rise, but the Irish Maffia in the USA, decided that an Italian champion might be a big earner. Abe Attell was brought in to make the most of him, and he did a fantastic job. Whatever you think of Carnera, he earned his title shot, and he beat the lineal champion. Watch the footage as many times as you like, and you will only see on conclusion!
