Where do you rank him as a heavy weight and why? And for Power too?

I'd probably rank him in my top 15 or 20, and while I don't know exactly where I'd rank his power, he had some beastly strength

I have him myself at roughly 20-25 at heavyweight and a lock for top 5 power

I honestly believe he was the hardest hitting heavyweight before Liston. He accidentally killed 3 men in the ring and on his best night his overhand could KO anyone

Before Liston I think Marciano is the hardest hitter, after that I'm split between Baer, Dempsey and Fitzsimmons. All of them had great power

I don't know. I don't think Marciano's power (or Dempsey's for that matter) holds up well in every era, I'm sure they were cataclysmic in their own era but not so much against more modern fighters. Fitzsimmons was a real middleweight as well and that's why I have Baer number 1

Edit: I probably have Langford and Wills above Fitzsimmons

He is hard to rank owing to being so hot and cold, but I think that a top 30 ranking could be justified.

In terms of power he is up there with anybody!

I think Louis would be right in the conversation.

Then it is only fair to note that no less then three common opponents/sparring partners named Baer as the harder hitter of the two.

Top 10 puncher, overall I put him around 30. He had good run to the title.

Definitely and I think he'd rank more than Dempsey and Marciano but I don't rate there power as much as In historical context

I have not fleshed out a top 50 list as of yet. For me he is not in the top 20
    Louis
    Ali
    Holmes
    Lewis
    Foreman

    Wlad
    Holyfield
    Frazier
    Tyson
    Marciano

    Johnson
    Liston
    Dempsey
    Vitali
    Bowe

    Schmeling
    Jeffries
    Patterson
    Charles
    Walcott

I have not gotten farther than this
But names like Tunney Norton wills Jackson Sullivan Mcvey Langford etc. make me think he is top 20-35 likely in the 30 realm

What do you think of his power Philly? I think an amazing fantasy match up is Baer vs C. Williams

Good, I guess. But I don’t get wowed by power as I find timing and placement more effective. Since most boxers say it is the punch you don’t see rather than the one you do. Power gets overstated sometimes. Like Shavers who literally KO’d any good or great boxer. Ditto Ron Lyle.

Not sure who C Williams is Carl or Cleveland

I would probably pick Carl and am undecided on Cleveland

Cleveland Williams for C but I think speed and accuracy are as useful as both Timing and Placement but with Power as well then it's just a lethal combination
