Williams was a better boxer than Baer,he had a very good jab, and was faster.

Williams may have been a better boxer than Max Baer, but I still think he'd beat Williams and is more formidable H2H

I am usually a severe Liston critic but he would beat caveman Baer from pillar to post, it would not even be competitive, similar to the Louis fight..............you cannot be open like the biggest barn door you can find, stiff as a board with wiiiiiiide telegraphed punches and expect to be successful against a technical power puncher like Liston.

Nonsense. Shall I link you to the 5 second highlight videos showcasing his skills?

I'd pick Liston, but these would be two great fights. Maybe Sonny would lose the first one, who knows, he certainly seemed to think of Williams I as a learning fight.

    An
And tuck that chin in. He's no Cassius Clay. He needs to duck, parry or roll with punched because he didn't have the speed or agility to evade fast punches from guys with long reaches all night long.

He also might not want to waste time with little pitty pat cuffs like the last two rights that ended with his right below his waste with his chin in the air. If he reproduced the exact same five seconds that we saw here against Liston I would expect him to be hammered badly not long after.

As opposed to a regular 6th round KO?

Watson's KO of Benn in the 6th was a gentle one. It was almost like he was saying 'Come on, Nigel. Hit my gloves until you're tired and then I'll give you a gentle jab and ... over you go.'

Easy for me to say, I know, but there were no moments when Watson was really teeing off on Benn. Apart from the strong sense that Benn was not hurting Watson while his own tank was running out, you never really thought that Benn was in imminent danger.

I guess Max Baer is the new Marciano here, where contrary to footage he's being portrayed as a complete bum who just thoughtlessly walked forward into combinations continuously throwing wild punches until he got lucky against the worst competition ever.

And any attempts to correct these poor observations is just met with meaningless hyperbolic reactions "you calling max bear a defensive master, you are an idiot."

As opposed to TKO6. Baer gets beaten badly...Liston takes advantage of those Wilder-like punches, the clownish behaviour, and the chin in the air to wear Baer down. List on
pounds a nearly unconscious Baer along the ropes till the ref steps in and stops the fight.

    Liston was clearly more skilled.
I think his power was about equal to Baer, & chin too-Baer was KOed 3X, & retired when he was barely 32.
Liston had only lost once, a split decision when his jaw was broken early, by that age.

Baer was likely a litle better than Williams.
He has a good chance to last the distance, but may well be stopped too.

Liston would love this fight .Max coming right at him ,Sonny would get that jab banging right in to Baers mush.A tired ,banged up Max gets dropped to the floor around the 10 th,,with Liston ready for another ten .

Absolutely , Baer replaces Cleveland flat on his back in the 3rd as the KO victim. Max has no chance against Sonny.
