What does that have to do with Baer's poor punching mechanics?

I agree it is a separate issue. But still valid in that an all time great trainer called Max Baer a very clever fighter. Which certainly would not be the case if he really had poor punching mechanics during an actual fight.

A guy with poor punching mechanics wouldn’t knock out so many top class fighters.

Neither Santa,Griffiths, or Foord were ranked fighters when Baer beat them.
in fact I can't find any time either Santa or Foord were ever ranked !

I'll give you Comisky, Carnera and Schmeling. Baer did not knock out Galento by any stretch of the imagination. Griffiths wasnt good, quite frankly. I dont even know who Ben Ford and Jose Santa are.

Ben Foord, a South African, won the British Empire title. He beat Tommy Laughran, Larry Gains as well as British champions Eddie Philips, Jack London And Jack Peterson.

Jose Santa was a giant fighter who beat Jim Maloney. Popular at Christmas.

Neither were ranked. So the original statement was BS. Foord beat Loughran in1936 when Loughran was 34 years old.Tommy had 10 fights that year winning just 4 .He was done.Apart from one fight against a ham and egger the next year his career was over

None of this proves that Max Baer did not knock out top fighters.

At the time Max flattened big Pat comisky everyone thought Pat had rings on his fingers and bells on his toes. Max still knocked him out. Baer was a huge puncher.
