Baer would have a puncher's chance, but if Johnson was on his game, I have to agree that he wins a wide UD over him. Baer was very talented, and tends to be underrated by boxing fans today, but he could be outboxed, as his record shows.
In the older, more rough house fights of the Johnson era, Baer has as good a shot as the overrated Willard did. I'll go against the grain and take Baer by KO 11.
I agree. I think that Johnson would have fun with Max, or at least do a really good job of pretending to.
Johnson was 37yo, untrained, fighting a 45 round fight, in 100+ degree Cuba. Johnson was ring rusty as the racist powers that be forced him out of boxing and the country He won every round until Willard caught up with an exhausted Johnson. I presume this is prime Johnson-Baer over 15
