Who did Baer wreck ? Carnera ? A 190 puns Schmeling on his worst night ? I like Max but over rated on every front. Too was much stronger, faster , better defensively and a two handed KO puncher .. the guys who beat him boxed him .. Baer was the worst "boxer" that ever won the title . I see Tua taking him out in a few rounds.

Love when guys just make stuff up .. He stopped Rahman, Moorer, lost razor thin decision to Byrd, in my opinion should have won decision ( extremely close) over an exceptional Ike, went twelve against a prime Lennox Lewis ( who would have flattened Baer as fast as he did Golota) , flattened Maskev and Izon .. destroyed Ruiz. Baer ha one (1) significant win in his whole career against Schmeling on Schmeling's worst night.

Tua definsive? Really, I've always thought his Power cane from his left arm much more than his right. Tua had as little science as Baer

This would be an incredible slug fest but Tua is not the heavy favourite if he even is

Baer by Late KO. Whilst Tua tries to spring a left hook he gets caught with the brutal over hand right

Lewis might have flattened Tua should he have chose to. Baer had a good chin (not as good as Tua's granted) but If Lewis went into full attack mode like he did against Ruddock, Golota or Grant then most heavyweights with out defense get taken out. He boxed against Tua because of his power. He very well could've gone out and flattened Tua but we'll never know

Bizzaire people seem more willing to pick Baer than Dempsey against Tua. Dempsey was much better, especially harder to hit.

I know his right hook was exceptional but was really a flash in the pan compared to his leaping left

But Dempsey would walk towards Tua so Tua's wouldn't have to hunt for KO it would litterally come to him

Rahman, Ruiz, Maskaev and Moorer were not world class opposition? They all held portions of the title at one point, two of them lineal.

So excuse me but what the hell are you talking about?

Rahman was world class when Tua beat him, but Ruiz, Maskaev, and Moorer were not.

    this is the bottom line.

Let's look at who they beat, who was actually ranked in the top ten on the day.

Tua just has Rahman, while Baer has a whole heap of names.

I have Baer winning a decision. Max ,the better boxer with a solid hard punch whilst Tua I believe the better chin and wrecking hook .If and I mean IF Maxie has his serious head on ,then it's a frustrating night for Tua .But even then Baer can't get complacent ,he could suffer a Rahman type ko loss .

It comes down to styles at the end of the day.

    David Tua was a 5' 10'' swarmer with a 70'' reach.

Max Baer was a 6' 2'' slugger with an 81 inch reach.

Tua will have to take the fight on the front foot, and will have to eat three of Baer's smashes just to get into range.

Baer will keep backing up to force Tua to keep walking into his punches, and when Tua does get into range, he will either clinch him or push him back.

This is why swarmers tend to perform badly against sluggers (see Frazier Foreman).

Here's what we do know; he didn't when they fought. He didn't because Tua was much tougher than Grant, Ruddock or Golota and a far more dangerous two handed puncher. He didn't because the risk reward did not rmerit it.
