I don't comment to flatter, I say what my opinion is about boxing and if I agree with a comment I say so, If I don't I may **** people off. Tua wasn't a champion for a reason, I can see Max beating him and getting under his skin, might not happen, but all this is all speculation. One guy was a big puncher who became heavyweight champ,,,,,,,the other didn't

Baer wouldn't have lasted 1/2 round. Perfect large, open target with zero defensive skills or footwork.

Because one guy only had to beat a mobbed up fraud galloot and the other guy had to go thru Lennox Lewis.

But, oh, I forgot Sugar Carnera was the Rutherford of 20th century heavyweight boxing.

This is true, but if Tua was challenging Carnera instead of Lewis ,wouldn't there be a good chance he would have been a champion too?
eg How do these bouts go Tua v Carnera ? Tua v Braddock?

Tua was unlucky to share an era with Lewis, but he was not unlucky to share an era with Byrd and Rahman, and he was not unlucky to live in an era where there were four versions of the title!

Whatever you can say about Baer, he beat the two best heavyweights on the planet within a year of each other.

He proved that he was the best heavyweight on the planet, in a way that his three predecessors never quite did!

For all of his failings, he was a highly successful fighter.

I will answer that if you don't mind.

I would make Lewis a favorite over Baer, but Lewis was not Tua's only opportunity to prove himself.

If you put Baer in that era, then I guarantee that he is walking away with a belt at some point.

He is just too good not to!

Now as for picking Tua over the best guys that Baer beat, he didn't relay show me enough against the ranked men of his own era, to earn that prediction.

You are entitled to your opinion, personally I think Rahman and Byrd would beat Carnera without any trouble and I'd make both favourite over Braddock.

If you are referring to Schaaf and Schmeling I would agree.I don't think Carnera was ever in the top 2 regardless of where he was ranked.

OK, so you are not sold on Carnera.

Would Rahaman and Byrd have got past Max Schmeling.

If you gave Baer an IBF title eliminator against the overweight version of Rahman, who held Tua to a draw, does that version of Rahman leave the ring in a perpendicular manner?

Even if Baer does nothing better than to replicate Tua's results, wouldn't he make an opportunity for himself somewhere else?

After Schmeling Sharkey II, you had a situation where Sharkey was the champion, but many people saw Schmeling as the real champion.

Some journalists even said it in as many words.

Baer took out Schmeling, then took out Sharkey's conqueror.

This made him the first person since Tunney, who absolutely nobody would have questioned as the champion!

Baer swallowed it, even Louis said he tried to throw the fight.Jack Dempsey his second had to threaten him just to get him into the ring.Tua settled for survival against Lewis but he never went down and quit cold as Baer did.Nor did he hit Lewis after the bell with a cheap shot as Maxie did to Louis.I like old Max but his rectum fell out against Louis and it is well documented with verified quotes from Louis,Dempsey and even Baer himself." Fifty bucks entitles people to see a fight not an execution."Baer after the fight.

I'd give both a decent chance, Schmeling doesn't exactly have a very deep winning resume.

    Oh yes he does.

Look at the rankings of his opponents when he fought them.

He didn't get out of bed for anybody who was not a top contender at his peak!
