Baer is trash. You cannot make this up. Baer would not have the head movement, the foot speed, or the jab to work a boxing clinic on Tua. He would get demolished.

BINGO! Styles would have been the deciding factor in that matchup. Tua was a swarmer, who slugged occasionally, as most swarmers do, to varying degrees. That's why Holyfield used Tua to prepare for Tyson.

He wouldn't need them, because he has the physical attributes to outmatch Tua, and the stylistic advantage.

What stylistic advantage ? He fights nothing like Liston or Foreman. He's going to brawl with Tua and get his head punched off. It would be a destructive KO like no other. I can imagine it right now. They swap hands in the pocket for a few seconds and Tua lands a big left hook and staggers Baer, then Tua will proceed to finish him off with sledgehammer-like combinations. He would level Baer and it would be one of his easiest fights.

His style was almost identical to Foreman's, and he had exactly the same stylistic strengths and weaknesses.

I can't see how this could be disputed.
Tua is not some invincible wrecking machine, who could only be beaten by outboxing him.

Tua built his credentials as a puncher against B and C level opposition, against elite opposition he looks rather unimpressive.

Sure Tua could crack, but when you match him against other devastating punchers, who made their bones against better opposition, you have to question how he would do even in a slugfest.

Baer is strong in all the areas where Tua is strong, and he proved it against much better opposition, and he has the stylistic advantage.

When you factor in that Baer had an all time chin, even Tua's vaunted puncher's chance starts to look like a slim hope!

Do you think that Tua had good enough defense to stay away from Baer's punches? Or do you think that his chin is too good for Baer's power?

Because he'd be at massive reach disadvantage here. Baer was sloppy, but he could afford much more missed punches because he was much longer. Tua would have to fight all the time in danger zone.

On top of that, Baer could fight on the backfoot (which he did for majority of his fights) and was quicker on his feet.

Also - do you really think that one landed hook is enough to dent Baer's chin?

how can you debate a legend known for trolling do you really think he believes max could beat dave think about it what person would think a person in 50s could match a person in 90s it's so obvious

dave would have sent that dude to the hospital real fast

even if he was like liston or George wouldnt be a advantage there neither one of them faught from long range all night like lennox which was the only way to survive dave

Who hit harder is debatable. But I think David Tua was ( probably ) more durable. Never stopped in some 50 fights and was only floored once at the end of his career. Not sure who wins. This fight has the making of one that survives to the cards. I guess who’s ever busier takes it

So you seriously believe that you're superior in every way to your parent's generation? Seriously, how arrogant can you be to believe such a bullsh*t.

David Tua had an solid chin and yes he's durable enough for Baer. That reach advantage isn't going to matter as Baer has slow feet compared to Lennox Lewis and Baer wouldn't be keeping a construct of jabbing and moving against Tua if he wouldn’t even do it against Joe Louis. He'd get into a dogfight, get broken down quickly and get blasted out early. Baer has no defense. And compared to Baer Tua has pretty good head movement LOL
