Max Baer vs David Tua

We are talking about Max Baer here, not Buddy Baer.

That aside your understanding of the dynamic of either fight is way off.

Nobody has to walk Tua down.

You can make him come to you.

 

Oh, i didn't read the title right. Then forget my entire argument. Actually some of my points still hold true. Max Baer was stiff, methodical and had almost zero head movement. Actually no he did have zero head movement. Tua would KO max Baer late at worst

 

He would Ko Max, brutally.

 

We're talking about Max Baer, not Buddy Baer. I don't see any meaningful speed advantage for Tua here.

 

Yes im aware now, they are about the same in terms of handspeed but Tua is more explosive and has better hand coordination. Tua even has better defense which is one of his worst traits. If Galento found his way in the pocket then Tua would even easier. Tua would overwhelm him and batter him while he's shelled up on the ropes. And in long range, Tua can counter over his jab quickly and Baer isn't one to box and move all night. Tua would knock his ass out. Watch Baer on tape. He was so rudimentary it's insane.

 

By your logic, Max never lost to short, dwarfed swarmer either so Tua couldn't beat him, he'd have to upgrade his style to someone who beat Baer.

 

I don't find Tua more explosive. What do you mean by "hand coordination"?

That's true, but he'd need it more because he's much shorter than Baer and he can't find on the back foot.

The problem is that Tua isn't fast enough or accurate enough to really overwhelm Baer. Sure, Baer would give away ground but he'd also throw power punches when Tua'd try to pressure him. Baer would have massive reach advantage, he could catch Tua way before he'd get inside with his short hooks and believe me - even Tua can't take Baer power punches all night long.

It's not impossible that at some point Tua would overwhelm him in the corner, but I find it unlikely. Baer usually did well against pressure fighters. He could push around them when necessary (Baer was very strong physially) and he could hurt them why giving away ground. You need a good jab to really bother Baer and Tua has no jab.

Baer wasn't a jabber, so it wouldn't matter.

He was and yet he beat better fighters than Tua. Maybe he did some things right after all?

 

Hand coordination as in polished combinations. Baer was sloppy in comparison. He is no George Foreman. Tua is accurate enough and quick enough. Galentos fat sloppy uncorrdinated ass was landing all night. Tua would counter Baer fairly easily and Baer would be open all night. This is the problem. As Bears trying to go to the body he'd get crucified. Tua would outclass him in the exchanges and Baer would be there to hit anyway. also Baer has beaten nobody who is better than Tua. Wait you're going to say Schlmeling right and Carnera right ? Yea Tua would decimate them too

 

Yes, Schmeling is much better fighter than Tua.

Tua has to be the most overrated fighter on this forum. Schmeling has like 5 best wins than Tua's best and yet people believe he's much superior...

not saying that but the person who he beat was trash was so sloopy and not skilled like max himself which is no compare

dave wasn't real skilled but he was a way better mover with way better defense then galento which you people compare to for some unknown reason

your going off of the title of swammer boxing doesn't work that way you have to look at the skill level not just the title of the boxer's style

we dont overrate Dave he is the most dangerous boxer that has ever been in my opinion he hit the hardest which was why nobody ever could go toe to toe with him he was that dangerous

we know he never was super skilled at combos boxing or defense but he did have a decent defense
