I'd like to see how Baer would perform at cruiserweight actually. Fights with Marco Huck and Krisztof Glowacki would be dynamite, IMO.
He'd get outclassed by Usyk and battered and possibly KOed by Gassiev, who'd pick his shots in between Baer's wild swings.
Baer was way to open!!!!!!! Why is everybody fixated on Baer's defensive deficiencies, when Tua had equally glaring technical deficiencies, and a much shorter reach? Why is there this assumption that Tua is this wrecking machine, that nobody can possibly stand against, when his record as a knockout puncher was built exclusively against B grade opposition?
It seems that your only criteria for picking somebody over him, is them having the potential to counter his wild swings. By that logic every contender that he ever came up against should have beaten him.
He was harder to punch, period. What were his technical deficiencies and how were they as glaring as Baer’s? Which of Tuas fights have you seen in full?
Who said anything about him having “excellent” defense? Still wondering—in your opinion, what were his technical deficiencies and how were they as glaring as Baer’s?
No, that's not my only criterion at all; I always take into account multiple factors when calculating how a fight might unfold. Gassiev is as big, if not bigger, than Baer, fights from behind a watertight defence, and specialises in sneaking in short sharp hooks and uppercuts through an opponent's guard that do major fight ending damage. I don't see Baer causing him any problems, frankly, unless he can somehow get his jab working and avoid trying to blast Gassiev out with one of his wild, sloppy combos.
