I don't think this one has been done before. A battle of the two brutal punchers, who could/can dominate fights with wild slugging and big power. I personally think it could be one of the most exciting fights ever. In a 12 rounder, who would win?
Can Wilder defeat more than one top 10 opponent before we go here. Have to go with Baer. A proven great chin against a very suspect one.
I guess he hasn't proven his worth at the top quite yet. I figure the Ortiz bout will change that, but for now youre right. At the same time the man is a hellacious puncher, undeniably. And dominates people and imposes his power on them even if delivered wildly. And like Max Baer, his victims often get severely hurt. Crazy matchup.
That Baer film is hilarious. Wasn’t there a thread last year where someone posted it as proof of Baer’s excellent skills?
The Baer video isn’t supposed to be a boxing 101 tutorial. It’s an in depth look at nuanced techniques in actual fights, save the foul stuff. If the insinuation is that Baer didn’t understand basic boxing techniques, then one must not have seen his fights. And they must’ve misunderstood his demonstration.
Baers lack of defense would cost him dearly. Sure wilder is no wizard either, but his height and reach advantage mean he would land first more often than not. Like a shootout between a guy with a shotgun vs a guy with a sniper rifle. Who knows what would happen if baer landed that sledgehammer right flush, but outside of that i dont see baer beating a much taller, athletic modern heavy with a good jab, ring generalship, and astonishing power. If it goes all 12 however, baer could pull an upset since hes far more experienced in that realm against all kinds of styles.
I rate Wilder's power as higher than Baer. However, Baer's chin is much better than Wilder's. I'd have to go with Max on this one. Wilder isn't exactly hard to hit.
