Both have poor fundamentals, similar power, maybe Wilder has a bit more. Baer better chin and he’s tougher for me. Baer by half way.
Wilder is bigger, longer, explosive and a better fundamental boxer (which is really saying something). It took a unicorn heavyweight, a 6-9, 270 pounder who moves like a deer and is highly skilled, to beat Wilder. And now, at 35, he stands with one loss. At 32, Baer had 13 losses, many, if not most, to scrubs.
I don't ponder on fairy tales. He swings from another zip code, lacks the speed of Deontay's right hand and was beaten 13 times. It's another quick KO for Wilder.
We now know that Baer could do one thing that Wilder couldn't. He could fight on the back foot. This discovery might tip the question a bit further in Baer's direction.
Baer and Wilder share more then one thing in common. Both have a killer right and both were sort of waste of talents (wilder has some time to change that). Both could have been so much better fighters had they focused on their craft more. Although Baer was better fundamentally. As for the more losses on his record Baer wasn’t a protected fighter like these guys today. He fought everyone even if the style was bad for him. Actually his team knew and didn’t care if he picked up losses because they thought it would make him a better fighter (and it did as you can see he avenges some of those losses some losses were DQs to inferior fighters).
