This is a matchup I came upon while tweaking my heavyweight h2h list, and it intrigues me. Both men who possess monstrous punches, but Coetzee had more skill, and Baer had a superior chin. I could see either man winning here, but if I had to pick, I'd go with the South African. Weaver wielded devastating punches in both of his hands, and with much more skill than Baer he took thirteen rounds to get a clean knockout on Gerrie- Something which I couldn't imagine Maxie doing with his level of ring expertise. I don't think Baer gets knocked out, but I don't think he has a chance at a decision. What do you think?
Yeah probably Coetzee for me too. He had some notable flaws in particular his iffy late gas tank but Baer's erratic pace would probably suit him. Early on it would be Gerrie's better timing and skill that would dictate the action. If he did enough damage early, the late fight would not be a problem for him.
It's a toss up for me, neither has a massive clear cut advantage. I lean slightly toward Max stopping him but a decision win for either is no big shock. Good match. I'd like to see this one in fantasy fight land.
