Two similary sized heavyweights. Who would win in a 15 rounds fight?

Good one, and perhaps one that we have not had before!

I suspect that it would either end in a Wills decision, or some sort of come from behind stoppage for Baer.

Wills was very physical fighter who liked to maul opponents inside. I'm not sure that would work with Baer, who was probably just as strong as him. Wills had also quite fast hands for a bigman at advanced age in footage we have, but he didn't seem to use jabs (the best weapon against Baer) that much against Firpo.

I think that Baer is a tough matchup for him.

On the other hand, Wills fought a lot of good punchers - Langford, Fulton, McVea, Firpo and others and he rarely got KO-ed.

I'm going with Baer here,I don't think he would be intimidated against Wills as he was with Louis.I see an overhand right catching Harry around the halfway mark and taking him out of there.

Fulton and Firpo had their bubbles burst by Dempsey.Wills was ko'd from one punch by a past prime Langford.I'm picking Maxie here.

Yeah, but Sam could KO anyone with a single shot.

My point is that you have to be better tha just a hard puncher to beat Wills. But again, I see Baer as a special puncher so he's definitely possible winner here.

I'm not big on Wills, he went down a bit too tamely against Uzcudun for me.

I would be careful about reading a lot into that.

Wills probably knew that he was never going to be champion at this point.

It's simple, I actually like Max stylistically here, but I just can't put any faith in it because of his propensity to simply give away fights smiling and grinning. Since it TS didn't say both at their best, and we're taking them on average, I'll go with Wills.

Wills was past his best no doubt of that but Uzcudun was never a big puncher. What do I know? Harry might have boxed Maxie's ears off!

All I am saying is that fighters don't just have a physical prime, they have a mental prime as well.

Even with the bravest fighter, there comes a day when they think "I just can't do this any more."

I don't agree with the style advantage. Baer was out-mauled by Braddock who also employed a stiff jab and narrow movement. Easy night's work for the Black Panther.

I think Baer is easilly capable of stopping Wills on his A-game, but he brought that for like 1 fight.

I think the big thing is Braddock had a really good chin, whereas Wills's was a bit weak.

Wills is a much better heavyweight than Braddock, but a lot of ways Braddock was just the right guy to beat Baer.
