Baer by KO. Though Hide has a punchers chance as well but didn't Hide freeze up in his biggest fights? Like he couldn't relax or he had anxiety?
I think this could end up like Bowe vs Hide. Hide outboxing Baer but depending on the distance of the fight Hide could get caught by Baer’s right hand. Bowe started with a jab as Hide was moving towards him but Baer would need a right hand. 10 rounds Hide could run off with a decision, 12 rounds Hide is in danger, 15 rounds Baer eventually catches him. My point being Hide expends more energy outboxing and staying out of danger with Baer plodding forward waiting for the chance to smash Hide with a right and being dangerous for as long as the fight lasts. If/when Baer lands a right it’s curtains for Hide.
Baer was better for his day, but I always say boxing evolved a hell of a lot from the 30s to even the 60s and onwards, boxing ability got better, Baer stood straight up, no unpredictability in his rhythm (No rhythm at all anyway) and just followed you and threw haymakers, the only unpredictability was the angle of his punches, Hide actually had a jab, actually had a rhythm, was very fast and had his own power. Baer would not have been difficult to time from a modern fighter, even Braddock was able to get his timing and pepper him with jabs the whole fight and just outboxed him
Could you elaborate what kind of skills got better? Do you think fighters like Louis, SRR, Armstrong, B. Leonard, Charles look unskilled?
Herbie Hide !! really..... of all the HW champs, and even HW in general over 120 years or so, we are down to this, sorry mate but this is dumbing down by degrees , when I see this type of " who wins " I groan. maybe its me ? no offence intended Yoda. keep well.
1. Opinions are different. After reading statements like: Max Baer is trash or he would have zero chance against modern boxers .... Thus, I wanted to know opinions on this fight. 2. Herbie Hide wasn't that bad. After all, he was world champion twice and a pretty good puncher. 3. There was no Max Baer vs. Herbie Hide thread before. Not so easy to find new fantasy match-ups. 4. If somebody don't like the fight, there is no need to response. Feel free to ignore it. BTW. I do not feel offended Keep well.
Sharper, faster, more explosive, they used to punch with technique as if they had rope for arms for some reason
You really believe that boxers are sharper, faster, more explosive and have better punching techique than SRR or Louis? When was the last time you checked your eyes?
Wild shootout which is determined by who can take the greater punishment, which is Baer. Holy crap, I'm going for Max Baer in a heavyweight fantasy fight!
