Baer would have a chance because of his chin, his punch, and Lewis' less than invulnerable chin. Still, I lean toward Lennox in this one.
Lennox too smart to take baers bombs. He would dominate baer in a one sided fight almost flawlessly but not ko him, Baers chin would hold up against Lewis.TKO in my opinion
Lennox probably had a better chin than Baer. At least he proved it against a better category of puncher.
Lewis would be on top form, controlling with his jab and clinching, refusing to engage Baer and pick up a points win. Baer is more dangerous than almost any puncher Lewis faced however, given his reach, speed, durability, and willingness to sell out for a knock out. So Baer could pull an upset in a series to be sure.
I'd expect Lewis to batter, school, and humiliate the smaller, less skilled, less well trained Baer. Baer would certainly have a puncher's chance, but so did many of Lewis' opponents.
Baer is probably one of the all time five, so hell no. A focused and healthy Baer is a very dangerous opponent for anyone, because like Foreman, he sold out for the KO. This isnt a Tua or Bruno spar session, a Ruddock meltdown, or Vitali sticking to the plan and holding back against a hurt fighter while splattered in blood, Baer will be loading up on the right hand all night and looking for anyway he can to land it.
Tua Tyson Morrison Ruddock Briggs Five fighters who all hit harder than Baer, and they're not nearly the only ones. Baer wouldn't crack a smile on Lennox's face if he landed. LHWs withstood his power. A fully fledged HW battle tested against some of the biggest punchers of the biggest punching decade in HW boxing isn't going to blink.
Baer is better than anyone on that list and was more capable of delivering his power. What sub 175 pounders withstood Baers power? Wouldnt crack a smile? Absurd claim that makes you look foolish.
What sub 175 pound fighter withstood Baer's power? I knew you couldnt answer. I can tell you Baer demonstrated the power to level modern sized heavies in Carnera and Comisky.
How about you provide this list of sub 175 pounders that withstood Baer's power or just admit you made a errorenous claim. I dont understand what you are asking or what it has to do with anything. How about you demonstrate the ability to handle facts before moving on to analogies.
This would be a damn good fight. Closer than the Tua fight imo. I think Baer is all wrong for Lewis stylistically. But Lewis may be too good to let the stylistic disadvantage take a hold.
I don't get why people are arguing about Baer's power or chin. He had great power and a great chin. That's undisputable. It's also about all he had going for him.
If we're talking about the same Lennox Lewis and not your math professor with the same name, Lewis embarrases Baer en route to a mid to late round stoppage. Larry Merchant terms the fight "a criminal massacre".
