This is a rare version of Baer vs Schmeling because it is the complete fight, only a few seconds are missing, basically it is 99 % of the fight. The other versions only show selected rounds. The quality of the video is excellent, the fight is in 3 parts (=videos) because I didn't want it to lose quality by joining it. The sound makes you feel like you are sitting ringside. 2 Posters named that fight among the most brutal beatdowns in Heavyweight boxing and I remember that fight different. I haven't watched it in a while but it was totally competitive and yes - the ending is brutal, but the fight itself is not a beatdown in my opinion. Change the resolution to 480p: Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJGIHPteEyo Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CECJdZArqg0 Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKly8P-7L6A
I just saw that the video doesn't look as good as the original file. - Sometimes videos lose a little bit of quality when youtube converts them to a flash file. Sorry about that - the original vob files look perfect.
great quality, that fight could've been stopped a bit earlier by todays measure... "what's with the back handers Maxie... HWs for the most part still marauding brawlers.
Awesome quality thanks for another great post!!! Baer was strong I wonder what he could've accomplished with better training and proper technique. That right hand was a weapon. If he could've straightened it out a little. I'm not saying Klitshcko straight but maybe like Bowe with a little loop. And he walks like a drunken zombie in all his fights. Schmeling was game though tons of heart. I think Baer's size and range coupled with aggression was just too much to keep off for the distance.
It's easy to forget, when watching Schmeling get destroyed by Louis, the beating he had already suffered at the hands of Baer. This was probably Maxie's best performance, and yet even in this one he goes to sleep a little in the middle rounds; how good he could have become is a good question. Teach him to work for three minutes a round and work on those straight punches would be a good start.
As i recall reading Max Bear entered the ring with an unusual desire to administer a beating to Schemling - The Jewish - Nazi History Fueled that desire, Albeit Mr Schemling was no Nazi.
