Was mostly objecting to the idea that Max Baer was a class above those guys. And at their respective bests he wasn't a more dangerous puncher than Tua, or Old Foreman even.

Those are eminently reasonable observations, given the results they all got!

I get it that you disagree with me, and you may have your reasons, but lets look at some facts.

It is a fact that Tua hit a brick wall very suddenly, when he fought somebody ranked in the top ten.

The same is basically true of old Foreman.

Max Baer was a f***wit, but he was still beating people ranked in the top ten repeatedly, and sometimes the best of the era, over a period of years!

    These are the facts.

You should be able to look at these facts, and see that I have good reasons, for seeing it as I do!

The difference, one that you will never acknowledge, is qualitative. When Tua rose was defeated, he lost to Ibeabuchi, Lewis and a slickster Byrd. Max lost to guys like Johnny Risko, Uzcudun and Braddock, among many others. One of these things is not like the other.

Indeed they are not alike, and I am all to aware of the qualitative difference, which is rather my point.

The problem is not that Tua lost to the best men that he faced, the problem is that he never convincingly beat a top ten ranked opponent.

Yes you could argue that Tua was unlucky to share an er a with Lewis and Ibeabuchi, but I don't think that he was unlucky to share an era with Byrd and Rahman.

Those are just the kind of guys that you have to beat to get to the top in any era.

So you have a guy who couldn't deliver against the top ten of one era, compared to a guy who was lineal champion in another.

Yes that is a big qualitative gap, however you slice it!

Even if Baer was one of the worse lineal champions, that is all that he needs to be here!

There are a number of plausible scenarios, but the 2 most probable are.

    Moorer on Pts
    Baer catches Moorer late...

I think Moorer on pts is the most likely outcome and my pick in this one

Baer had murderous power, actually he is credited with 2 murders Frankie Campbell and Ernie Schaaf who died in a fight after Max ko'd him earlier

Moorer not making it past 10 or 15 - Baer had a strong beard & Moorer did not

Baer was stronger and could hit like a truck. MM would have to be on his P's and Q's.

If this fight were happening tomorrow night and you had to bet the mortgage payment, I get the feeling that you'd pick Max Baer.

    Oh, hell no.

I would bet two mortgages on Moorer. The gulf in skill and speed is just too much. Plus, Baer never beat anyone as good as Holy.

Baer won't land ****. He's the most overrated HW head to head. Charles Martin is a better fighter than Baer.
