    Though 70's fan and I differ as to the extent of the power of Baer opponents such as ;
    De Kuh
    Hankinson
    Comiskey
    In comparison to Williams
    There is no doubt
    Schmeling
    Galento
    Campbell
Were all good bangers, there is no factual basis for your statement its all conjecture.

    I said nothing about improvements.

So pray tell, what do you put the difference between Ali vs Cooper and Liston down to?

Are you trying to say, as usual, that Liston was shyte? That Liston is lesser than Cooper? That Cooper hit harder?

Tell me why Ali had a dangerous career defining moment against Cooper yet was quite solid over Liston?

    The world is watching.

Yes sorry. You didn’t say anything about improvements. You correctly said the calendar year changed within the few months between the cooper and Liston fight. so I apologise.

what do I put the difference between Ali vs Cooper and Liston down to?

I think it was a combination of Ali being surprised by cooper and coasting to his prediction. Ali coasted to his predictions with everybody in those days. But he really pulled it out of the bag to make that prediction work.

Where as Ali was always more up for Liston. A title fight. His estimations were more correct for Sonny than for Cooper. the round lost over the substance in the eye coincided with Sonny gassing.

I am certain Ali showed more of what he had for Liston because he rightly saw Sonny as a better fighter than cooper. Sonny was the best heavyweight in the world back then, and in order to win, Ali had to show more than what we had seen from him in order to win.

As good as Sonny was I don’t see why Max Baer couldn’t match Sonny’s prime Resume.

    Ali struggled badly with Jones.

Floyd`s hook was better than any of those fighters best shots, it came with speed and Baer had no defense. Floyd was far better than Galento.

Ali was always vulnerable to hooks he was far beter at evading right hands, Liston didn`t throw many hooks at Ali despite having a devastating hook, Cooper threw far more.

Regardless if the hype was warranted or not, it was certainly there which you evidently didn't know about despite claiming to follow boxing back then.

You didn't know it. You literally said "I know who they are BECAUSE Williams fought them." Take a pill chok, your memory problems are insane.

I was actually referring to the Doug Jones fight, which was in March which technically yes was three weeks short of a year.

In any case 8 months let alone 11.5, is a substantial amount of time to continue training, improving, and growing both physically (Ali was still physically developing at that stage in his career) and as a fighter.

    This is your statement.
Floyd was too skilled and too fast for Baer who didn`t have Liston`s reach or explosivness plus Floyd`s left hook was more powerful than any punch thrown by a fighter beaten by Baer.

    The underlined is just supposition!

Liston only threw 3 hooks to the head in rd 1 v Ali, all three were really slow punches, thrown out of range and telegraphed, Liston was slower than Cooper.

Cooper threw 19 hooks in the first rd v Ali and dominated Ali in that round, his speed gave Ali problems.

Ali always did better in rematches and was better in his second fight v Cooper than in their first match-up.
