If you consider Liston prime when he lost to Ali? From 9th of Sep 1960 until the 27th Feb1964 Liston had under 6 rds of actual fighting.

choke lab loves the European heavies from the 50s and hates the American heavyweights it’s bizarre. He loves Johansson to the point where he once argued him over liston until he finally gave up. These days he attacks Cleveland Williams and props up Brian London lol. He also used to tear down Nino Valdes and boost up Don cockell lmao. My favorite was when he was obsessed with Henry coopers controversial decision over Folley while he neglected the rematch result

williams defeated and took on several men who were ring magazine top 10 at the time of the fight or near the time of the fight from 1959-1964

That’s not true. I may defend the Europeans but I certainly do not hate any of the American contenders. I think Doug Jones is quite overlooked. I like Pastrano, Thad Spencer. I like all of them in their own way. Zora Folley was a great pro. Machen. They were great fighters actually. It’s really about perspective and deciding which ones are over rated. Nothing to do with hate. I like everybody.

I don't know why he would have been he had lost 3 of his last 4 fights ,only beating Jimmy McCarter 9-3-1
In fact he had only won2 of his last 7 fights.

Floyd was too skilled and too fast for Baer who didn`t have Liston`s reach or explosivness plus Floyd`s left hook was more powerful than any punch thrown by a fighter beaten by Baer.

Actually, Max Baer’s reach was listed as 82” - not much less than Liston’s 84” listing which, in all possibility, might’ve been a touch less anyway.

We often critique Max’s skill set (justifiably imo) and calculate that the slack was pulled up by his power and chin. But there was also that reach - which facilitated successful delivery of some of his less refined executions.

Nobody Liston beat is knocking out Max Baer.

Max might need 2 fights to do it, but he can beat Floyd Patterson. There’s no “can’t” about it.

Baer did drop decisions. I guess you can’t rule out him losing. But there’s nobody among Listons record out there max cannot ever beat in theory.

Well Ali fought Liston a year later. A lot can happen in a year.

Williams wasn't just past his best. He had a bullet in his colon, suffered from partial permanent paralysis, and looked like a shell of himself. I have no idea where you're going with the rest of your post. More mumbo jumbo from you.

If you only knew Holman, Lee, and Rischer for their brutal knock out losses to Williams you dksab. Simple as that. Curly Lee was seen as the next big thing in boxing.

"Curley Lee, the brash newcomer from Los Angeles, puts his fastmoving drive for a shot at the world heavyweight crown on the line tonight in a nationally televised match with dangerous Cleveland Williams.
The 210-pound Williams was a slight favorite going into tonight’s 10-round ABC-TV battle starting at 6pm PST, but some observers said this was only because the “big cat” was better known here than Lee.
Reports from the West Coast indicate the 22-year-old Lee is considered by some as the best sleeper bet to clout his way to a world heavyweight challenge."

Roger Rischer was a ranked heavyweight and had decent wins over other contenders like Young Jack Johnson 2X, and Charlie Powell (who you laughably stated was "similar" to Williams), and would go on to floor Henry Cooper twice in a round and beat him.

John Holman was NUMBER THREE the previous year and IN THE TOURNAMENT FOR MARCIANO'S TITLE.

How do you not know any of this? Why do I even have to explain this to you? Not only are you a dishonest twat, but your knowledge is also inept.

    Please educate yourself.

could this be west coast hype? Certainly looking at his record it’s not that apparent that Lee was worth quite so much praise.

I know it. These are good enough opponents for a fringe guy. I just think there were more relevant contenders out there than Holman, Lee and Rischer.

That’s a lie. Ali did not fight Cooper a whole year earlier than Liston. June to February is not one year. It’s only a few weeks difference from the gap between Ali defending against Liston in Lewiston and Ali defending against Patterson. Don’t pretend Ali was somebody different from June to February.

There's nobody in history excepting Ali that Liston can't beat either, in theory.
