Could a prime Max Baer depose Larry Holmes? I had seen Max take out someone (I forgot who) with a right hand and then Lou Nova only to lose. I had never seen anyone hit so hard and I wonder, could Larry Holmes survive many rounds without getting tagged? I have my doubts
Larry would box Baer's ears off until the ref stops it late. Too many weapons for the one dimensional Baer.
Holmes had already survived the power of men who not only hit harder, but were better skilled as well.. Baer had no jab, no defense and limited mobility. This is a mismatch..
The right hand ko you saw Max Baer scored was against a young sensation Pat Comiskey near the end of Baer's career...
Baer might be able to beat Holmes, but I don't think that he would. Holmes proved against Earnie Shavers that he could probably survive Baers right hand if the worst happened. In short, there are more ways for Baer to loose than there are for him to win.
Baer always was a dangerous fighter, no doubt and a very good finisher......but he was far more crude than Shavers......Shavers had good head movement and much better mobility than Baer....would be easier than the Shavers fights for Holmes..... In my view I can“t see Baer winning, no way......
Nope. The whole "vulnerable to right hands" mark on Holmes is a bit overstated. And Baer did not throw the most education right hand. You usually can see it coming from another zip code.
