Was quite a character was old Maxy. In a way he had quite a few attributes to become a great fighter, just not the discipline.
One of my favorite clips (there was a colorized version, but I can't find it). Go to .40 mark with Max, Galento and Lou Nova. Max wearing some modern looking shades (hiding the signs of having smoked the old wacky tobaccy?, lol), acting pretty crazy alongside fellow nutter, Galento. However you rate them otherwise, they were ATG boxing personalities in my book. Baer and Nova were very big dudes for their time. This content is protected
With slightly different circumstances (if no tragedies had happened, better discipline, not to underestimate the opponent...) Max Baer could have been the second best heavyweight in the 30s. Great video.
No. I don't think Max Baer would ever be better than Joe Louis. It's just not clear to me who is the second best heavyweight in the 30s?
