I knew it wasn’t an April fools joke because it said, this is not an April fools joke. Pretty sure that’s a violation of April fools jokes.

Just seen this on bet365 and was like wtf.

This is a great fight but is it for the full LW title?

The LW picture right now is a joke. The champion is absent, the interim champ is injured and the best guy in the division is fighting a FW champ on 2 days notice lol.

Don't get me wrong there's some top fights to be made and I'm well hyped for this one, but I think the division needs clarity. Even if it's Dana saying this is definitely for the full title and Ferguson is guaranteed the first defence.

I undersold this last time out, this is a super fight. The winner is a sure fire ATG.

I mean as UFC fans we are spoilt in terms of the quality of fights we get, the number 1 LW Vs the number 1 FW with an assurance from Dana that the winner is the legit champion, this is incredible.

If Khabib wins he's finally champ, has an impressive ledger and will likely reign for years to come, if Max wins he's got an argument for goat.

This kinda thing never happens in boxing and yeah we all want the best LW guys facing off for the belt but as a replacement fight this is incredible.

Between this fight and DC Vs Cormier UFC is moving in the right direction. They've got the MW picture sorted, are making huge fights on the regs and the only other thing I'd like then do is lifetime ban Jones.

Wow Ortega was asked by Dana to step in against Khabib and had agreed to the fight because Dana couldn't get a hold of Holloway at first. Imagine if there were more fighters like Holloway and Ortega how much better the sport would be

I read Holloway is having a terrible time making LW. Not only is he going to be in with a significantly stronger opponent, he's going to be a weight drained zombie too. Very dangerous fight that could potentially ruin his career. Great job WME!

He wins he is a two weight class champ and joins an exclusive club with very few members. He lose, he was a smaller guy that took a dangerous fight on short notice. Halloway has nothing to lose.

It is a great job indeed. Seeing two of the best fighters face off at such short notice is awesome.

Holloway is in a win win situation and Khabib gets his title shot after so long.

It's shortsighted. Fights between big name fighters should be given their time to be properly built up and hyped. This fight kind of feels like it's going under the radar, which is a shame.

In the likely scenario of a weight drained Holloway getting battered from pillar to post then he could be damaged goods like Pettis, Barao etc. Would be a huge loss for the UFC.

I disagree with almost everything you've said tbh. As far as last minute fights go this is amazing.

No sure what you're smoking here man but this is far from an amazing fight. I have no interest in seeing a short notice Holloway(who was sidelined from an injury to begin with) take a fight with a beast like Khabib who's much bigger and had a full camp. Holloway/Ortega down the line interests me, not this absolute farce. The UFC should have had a LW on standby given the history these two have had with getting injured - this entire situation just goes to show how incompetent the UFC have become.
