Max Kellerman: Donaire has the most THREATENING Fight he can have on paper!

I agree with Kellerman. Rigondeaux is a guy that is not used to losing and losing is not in his vocabulary. This guy was the absolute best amateur for his entire career that lasted almost 10 years. There wasn't a Cuban, Russian, American, Latin, European or Asian fighter that could beat him. So when you have had this much success it's very normal for him to feel invincible.

Rigondeaux has also had his best training camp ever with fellow Cuban trainer Diaz. I think most people are highly underestimating Rigo and will be in disbelief after Saturday night. Kellerman knows what he is talking about, Rigondeaux is the only man capable of beating the crap out of Donaire in 122 pounds, and he will.

 

Rigondeaux is getting underrated in this fight. Donaire has definitely beaten better opponents, but Rigondeaux is a dangerous fighter. He's quick, powerful, with good timing, balance, sense of distance, and skilful counterpunching. It's going to be an interesting match.

 

I'm referring to the "on paper" statement. On paper, Donaire still has the advantage, I never said he did not make weight. He makes weight fair and square, but there is a reason why in boxing they talk about size and reach advantages, in addition to weight. In nonito's case, he has all three, since his natural walk around weight is higher than guillermo's, in addition to reach and height.

I think most boxing fans understand the threat of Rigo. He's a supremely talented fighter, one of the best amateurs in the history of the sport and a gifted athlete. He may be even faster than Donaire.

The only knocks against him are his chin and lack of experience in the pros. Donaire is bigger and punch harder. Boxing skill wise, I give Rigo the edge. Power goes to Donaire.

It's going to come down to a few things. Who can force the other guy to fight his fight and overcoming adversity. They both have the ability to land on each other...who can take the other guy's punch and not be discourage?

The intangible is whether or not Rigo can keep his activity up. He has a habit of not throw enough punches and lose momentum. If he doesn't put up a spirited fight, he is going to lose. We already know what Donaire brings to every fight...he is always determined and wants to knock you out.
