Max said he has the potential to become the greatest Cuban exile, not that Gamboa was or will be the greatest. C'mon people.

 

Yeah, to be fair to Max, he was talking about potential. Who knows how far Gamboa can go - whether it be big or small.

It may seem ridiculous when a fighter has only had 10 fights and achieved nothing, when comparing him to other fighters who have achieved greatness.

Stupid thread. Do you understand what potential means? It means:

possible, as opposed to actual or capable of being or becoming.

So there's nothing wrong with saying he has the potential, because he really does. He all the potential in the world. A few tweaks on some things and he can become the greatest Cuban exile, not saying he will be, nor was Kellerman for that matter. Additionally, Kellerman never said he was better than any of the great Cubans, just that good be based on his natural gifts, athleticism, amateur pedigree and overall potential.

If you understood what potential stood for, you would see no conflict with this comment.

You statement is subjective i.e., "the greatest Cuban exile fighter as yet."

What makes you believe Napoles is the greatest?
