I like Max... I liked him on FNF.. He seems to know all the match up situations.. And, he asks the questions I like to hear... and he called out the judge, which no one else does.
The only problem with Kellerman is that he likes to hear himself talk. Somebody should tell him that long sentences and complex ideas do NOT belong in a boxing show. The fans want info that is fast, easy to understand and interesting.
They should have gotten rid of Merchant years. People are always making jokes about him being drunk, when in fact he is just plain senile. Like Evander Holyfield and Roy Jones, his time has past.
So Max has that radio show out of New York, I checked it out today, he ought to just do that and vacate the boxing chair. He is much more relaxed in that position, however, I can't say I really liked him there either all that much. And he comes out with some brash statements but a lot of that is just to give you the "feeling" that he has some balls. He was kissing Artie Lange's ass about his new movie Beer League on the show I was listening too and than he throws in that he thought that the directing was poor, Artie is like, wtf do you mean? And it didn't take long for mr conviction to change the subject rather than explain what he meant. I am not saying the guy doesn't have some good things going for him. Its just the bad outweigh the good. Hell, ALMOST EVERYONE DISLIKES HIM, and like Spock said, "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one"
That was crazy Pappa thought there was a knock down. Pappa strikes me as a guy who in his head, is like, "jesus I can't wait for this broadcast to be over so I can do anything else, anything at all, than this boring boxing ****....oh well a job is a job"
He has to appeal to the Einsteins as well. I don't find his pre and post fight talks complicated to understand.
there are alot of commentators out there that are biased, and that overrate certain fighters to an extent but......it's just so glaringly obvious when Kellerman does it, i cant stand hearing from this guy for me it goes like this... Bernstein > Merchant > Farhood > Lampley/Atlas > Lennox > Kellerman they should bring back George or Roy, or better yet Hagler, Leonard, or Mancini
