Hands down the worst commentator I've seen in over my many years following boxing. Heck, Sean O'Grady was better!
Reading these posts makes me realize once again how what makes a good announcer is such a matter of taste. We all watch boxing with some regularity and we agree less on announcers than the boys in the lounge agree on politics. Personally, I like Kellerman. During fights he is knowledgeable and well-spoken. That being said, his post-fight interviews with guys like Golovkin and Pacquiao were laughable. They had only a rudimentary grasp of the English language but he would ask them big picture, philosophical questions. The poor boxers would look blankly and then give an answer that had little to do with the question. Right now there really isn't a preeminent blow-by-blow guy but whoever it is, I would team him with Kellerman and Paulie Malignaggi.
Kellerman was kind of torture back in the day. Thought that ESPN circus suited him best. Boxing doesn't even pay that much anymore which is why I suppose they can't lure real good commentators. Surprised hes back honestly...
Boxing broacasts need to provide a small mixboard with faders for each of the broadcast team. You can't convince me that this is a big ask at this point. As a bonus, tehy would learn who everybody actually wants to hear and could adjust employment/salaries to increase their profits. They could get an extra 5 bucks out of me on a PPV for it.
