kellerman sucks bro, he's completely rude and doesn't anyone answer his questions or let anyone talk at that. he doesn't "tell it like it is", he's just a dick.
As a matter of fact, Kellerman is a great commentator and analysist. When it comes to personality and charismatic presentation, he falls far short of the standard and is easily susceptible to criticism.
I never understood the hate directed towards Max...He knows his **** and treats fighters with respect. I for one cant wait for the day they show Larry the door and make Max the full time commentator. Larry's bombastic confrontational style has gotten really old with me.
i like Max i just think that sometimes he over does it. He wants to sound too "civilized". This is boxing for the love of God!
Kellerman is not inherently bad. A fair assessment would be that his knowledge of the history of the sport is very good and that his level of energy is perhaps unparalleled within the realm of modern commentators. I wouldn't even challenge his technical knowledge. My main criticism, and I think it's shared, is that he lacks the wisdom to both understand and explain the significance of what we're watching. That he replaced Larry Merchant is a real shame. Merchant, despite how he may trash the fighter that you love, knows the sport and its history and he brings with him an air of perspective that is decidedly honest. Kellerman is someone that, in my mind, is equivalent to that guy that memorizes everything on Boxrec. Statistics serve a purpose, but they don't tell you the whole story. Merchant forces you to feel and understand the virtues of the sport. If Max replaced Lampley then it wouldn't be such a big deal, but HBO has no suitable replacement for Merchant.
