Kellerman said that the top featherweights of the era ducked JMM when in his prime.
.....and that included MAB and Morales who were fell into a safety net of not fighting a top dog like JMM and only fought eachother.

All through MAB's and Morales' reign at featherweight, none ever uttered the name Juan Manuel Marquez.

Morales I will give the benefit of the doubt since he was controlled by Arum and Arum did'nt want to see a marketable established star risk getting beat by someone who had'nt established himself against the top tier.
MAB I know for sure ducked JMM, as he was asked on more than a few occasions if he would fight Juan Manuel Marquez, and on each occasion he avoided having to answer the question.
In fact, when MAB beat Erik Morales in their second fight, knowing that JMM was the #1 contender, MAB dumped the belt he had won from Morales and said he was'nt really a featherweight and would probably drop back to superbantamweight......MAB said all this from just the fact of being mentioned the name JMM.
JMM who had voiced him wanting to fight MAB, stated, that wont be a problem, I can make 122 lbs.....I'll fight him there if thats what it will take.
Needless to say MAB never dropped back to 122, he was just wanting to get JMM off his back, and not to hear the boxing media bring up his name.

There is no question that the upper tier in the featherweight division went out of their way not to mention JMM as a possible opponent.
Marquez was an all around well rounded fighter and technician and the whole featherweight division was concious of that.

just to end the argument about Naz ducking Juan Manuel Marquez or Juan Manuel Marquez ducking Naz. It wouldn't be that bad.

Marquez was an Arum fighter, but Arum preffered to give the big fights to Erik Morales.

Its no coincidence that with JMM now with DLH, that JMM has now fought MAB and Manny Pacquiao.

JMM said it best when before he rematched Pacquiao, he was asked if he regretted not having took Arum's offer of 750k to fight Manny Pacquiao......and Marquez noted that he had no regrets because Arum lied his way through the whole negotiations, and he just does'nt like being lied too and dealing with liars!

Arum-"I was lieing yesterday, today I'm telling the truth!":deal :bbb

I have the uttmost respect for Manny Pacquiao.
    He's a true warrior.....

.....unfortunately now that he's with Arum, he's getting an education in the finer points of business and avoiding having to face the best fighters unless the public absolutely is demanding it.

Exhibit A, up next, David Diaz!

Dont really care so much for a third fight with Pacquiao to tell you the truth.
In most respected boxing journalist eyes, Marquez has already proven himself twice against a prime Pacquiao.

I'm hoping JMM moves on and fights another top fighter, Valero, Guzman, or even Humberto Soto would suffice me just fine!

The unfortunate part of this whole crap is that JMM's promoter, DLH, went to the Arum school of promoting......
.....word is that a 2nd JMM-MAB fight is a possibility.
That mismatch does'nt interest me in the least, but its likely to net JMM more money than either a fight with Guzman or Valero, unfortunately!:?
