    Idiots!

Former light heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk will remain at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia for a second straight night, trainer Teddy Atlas told ESPN on Saturday night.

Gvozdyk lost the lineal 175-pound title and his sanctioning organization belt by 10th-round technical knockout to Artur Beterbiev in an action-packed unification fight on Friday night at the Liacouras Center.

Although Gvozdyk was ahead 87-84 and 86-85 on two scorecards, with Beterbiev up 87-83 on the third scorecard, going into the 10th round of the Top Rank Boxing on ESPN main event, Gvozdyk had taken a lot of heavy shots -- especially right hands -- from the powerful Beterbiev.

In the 10th round, Beterbiev (15-0, 15 KOs) dropped an exhausted Gvozdyk (17-1, 14 KOs) three times before referee Gary Rosato waved off the fight at 2 minutes, 49 seconds.

About an hour after the fight, Gvozdyk, with Atlas at his side, walked under his own power to a waiting ambulance in the arena tunnel for the short ride to the hospital to be checked out as a precaution. But they were still at the hospital on Saturday night.

"I'm still here with him," Atlas said. "I just brought him last night because he had pain behind his head from the punches he got hit there, so they did a scan and saw a possible small something and did another scan six hours later and [the doctor] wanted us to stay 24 hours to be safe. So we canceled his flight, and I will stay with him here another night, then [on Sunday] bring him to my home [in New York] -- just again to be safe. Then Monday, he will fly home. He is OK.

"He's fine, but we are still here just as precaution and will stay the night. [On Sunday] morning, if all is the same, they will discharge him."

The fight marked the first time in light heavyweight division history that two undefeated fighters met to unify title belts. The Montreal-based Russian Beterbiev, who was the slight favorite, had defeated the Oxnard, California-based Ukrainian Gvozdyk by second-round stoppage in a 2009 amateur tournament, and both went on to become elite professionals.

Beterbiev, 34, retained his title for the third time since winning a belt in November 2017. Gvozdyk, 32, won his title in December 2018 and made one successful defense before being stopped in the unification bout.

Kellerman has probably never even played a game of tiddlywinks in his life, let alone something where his ***** ass might get hurt.

Nobody saw Gyvozdyk quit. We saw a guy give it all he had. He was hurt badly and took it for the last few rounds and truly tried to win. In this game when you've had enough you've had enough. Gyvozdyk fought until he couldn't anymore. That's all that you can ask. Anyone questioning this hasn't sparred one ****en round in their lives.

In general i like Kellerman. He's analyzing unemotionally and often comes close to the point. Not like my favorite commentator but i don't see him quite often so i appreciate him analyzing fights quite a bit. Not sure if i would like him seeing him week for week though. This time he definitely talked some utter BS.

Gvozdyk didn't quit at one point. He was broken down by a stud, a tank and finally couldn't take it anymore which isn't 1% of a quit, just a normal reaction if you get hammered and dropped a couple of times. The body language of Gvozdyk wasn't the best for a couple of rounds before the stoppage but still no quit in sight. I'm not sure if you have to bash Kellerman like that, but it was stupid and he should think about what he actually talked there. Idiot like move but to be fair, he wasn't really going hard on Gvozdyk there, he just expressed his opinion about the last couple of rounds and didn't think about the words he used - shouldn't happen.

Gvozdyk deserves so much credit for taking the fight in the first place. We see so many so called champs who are fighting low level opposition so Gvozdyk should get big credit for taking such a risky fight at the second time he's defending his world title. Then you should give him credit for his game plan early on. It worked. He was broken down in the mid rounds imo. And finally, he deserves even bigger credit for his approach in the later rounds as he knew he has to go for it and he did. Versus a guy who probably would do the same to some Elite Heavyweights. Beterbiev is a stud. He's considered as a small 175 pounder but was fighting CWs and HWs in the amateurs. He's the most dangerous fighter P4P. You can drop him, but i can't see anyone at 175 stopping him. Maybe Kovalev but i think Kovalev might be too old to do that. Bivol or Zurdo won't stop him too. I think Bivol has the greatest chance to beat him, but i'm not sure if he can keep him off for 12 rounds. Interesting fights coming up.

Very true. ESPN would be better without him.

Gvozdyk had a concussion from blows landed on the back of his head.

I remember at the end of Benn-McClellan, the despicable commentator (another one like Kellerman who never boxed in his life) said McClellan "quit" and lacked "heart". Then McClellan collapsed in his corner and went into a coma.

It’s a shame, Gvodzyk fought bravely and got up after taking major shots, especially to the body. I give the guy credit for taking on such a tough opponent. Too many champs these days, like Crawford taking the easy route and not facing similar opposition in the same weight class. This fight had no gimmicks, just two top guys, both prime, fighting each other to see who is best. It was close for most of the fight and there was no doubt who won the fight. No questionable cards, etc. we need more fights like this and less of the twitter fights with punks taking trash but choosing to fight bums. Max is a POS and his comments only reinforce what everyone already knows.

Exactly what I thought about the fight. It may get used a lot in boxing speak but genuine 50/50 fights are rare.look how long it took for these two to get where they were and then to put it on the line?I remember thinking the same when Spence and Brook fought and that both should get respect no matter the result.Oddly enough that fight also ended up in one guy being forced to take a knee for his own wellbeing and likely the same idiots accused Kell Brook of quitting.
Some folk are too stupid to realise when they got it good.
