I like Max as well. He loves Boxing and he is a very good announcer. Interviewing, not so much, but he is a cool dude.
i thought he did a good job this past sat during the arreola/williams card. Made some nice points that i remeber being taken aback from. His voice can be a bit annoying but at least he talks about things people talk about here. Example: Talking about how cintron should have lost 2-3 times in his fight with martinez. Also like how he brought up that martinez only loss came to a pressure fighter who throws alot of punches and williams loss came to a slick southpaw boxer and how both were in the ring with that same sort of style mtachup. He's alright in my book but that post floyd-JMM interview was disgraceful. He looked like a deer caught in the headlights.
Max is a bit annoying and a bit of a know-it-all at times, but no one, i mean no one, is worse than that unclever, ***** Larry Merchant, who makes no effort to hide his pompousness and his veiled racism. Merchant is the real *******.....
Max Kellerman actually robbed the fans during that interview post-fight with Mayweather vs. Marquez. He didn't let Floyd say what he wanted to say in conclusion, which GUARANTEED would have been exciting. He stifled the action, as far as I'm concerned. It was a travesty.
He doesnt add prestige to the telecasts he is a lightweight, and not much of a journalist really, but Max is ok however we need someone with a bit more substance and history thats what Larry Merchant brings. Yet look! there we have Kellerman. Its no contest Merchant is the superior journalist in every way.
Of course he's not much of a journalist - because ALONE among boxing commentators he never worked as journalist BEFORE getting handed his ESPN job as a result of family connections. He also never was a participant - i.e. pro boxer, trainer, etc. ANYBODY would be better, but you would think that HBO could get someone who had qualifications, and was seasoned. This wet behind the ears punk should go back to the minor leagues and leave boxing commentating to grown men.
