I think K2 are doing a good job with Golovkin Tbh. Here we have a mild mannered Kazakhstan native (or Russian if you're American), who has limited English and he's just had his first ppv and he's selling out stadiums in the US.

Ward himself has only his self to blame. After the super 6 he should have been a household name but would rather squander his talent in court.

 

Mayweather wasn't a pay per view star until he beat De La Hoya who was the pay per view king. Golovkin will be a pay per view star once he beats Alvarez. And if Ward somehow manages to beat Kovalev he should start drawing well too.

The problem with Ward is that he took three years off just as he was starting to get hot from the super six. He could have fought Bute, Groves, Degale, Dirrell, Badou Jack, and maybe Jean Pascal in that time and been the king of pay per view by now. He sat out and his reputation suffered. Now, he needs to build it back up again.

even had ward stayed active and on course...i dunno if hed ever be some ppv king...i think he could have been a guy that did 300-350k ...maybe more depending on opponent....but i dont think hed ever reach kingpin status
