What are your thoughts on him as an expert commentator? Do you approve or don't accept his opinions because he never boxed?
I know there are people out there that don't respect his opinion because he never boxed. I guess my argument would be, then why listen to your 5th grade English teacher if she/he never got a book/article published? Why take psychology from someone that doesn't have their own practice? Commentating and performing are two very different skill sets. You could be the best boxer in the world and not be able to articulate or truly ****yze the sport. Hell, there are some boxers that don't even watch the sport (ex. Pac). Just like there are film ****ysts and then there are film makers. We need them both. Another example would be Albert Einstein. Brilliant scientist/physicist- horrible teacher.
He is a cool commentator. Limited knowledge but my biggest problem with him is how he SUCKS off people like GGG and Loma.
I think he has good on screen delivery and presentation of ideas. He is entertaining and engaging to listen to. His ideas, though slated, I feel often give a good perspective too. I think he is good for the sport.
Why would someone ever had to have boxed to be a commentator? Or an historian? Or a trainer? :blood LL was one of the best HW's ever, and he sucked carrots as a commentator. So that obviously doesn't help.
RJJ is light years better than Kellerman. He offers much more insight. Jim and RJJ would suit me just fine for broadcasts.
