Max Kellerman's double standard

Had the ref in the Wlad fight had the balls to do what the ref last night did, the fight would've been much more watchable. Likewise, that fight last night would've been about as fun to watch as an abortion had the ref not stepped in as early as he did.

I don't blame Wlad for the Povetkin being so ugly the same way I don't blame Ward when he fights dirty and gets away with it. It's the ref's job to stop it.

 

Andre didn't fight in any way like Klinchko does

 

HBO in general are a bunch of **** bags...
They praised Donaire for the Vada testing, gave Rodriguez a "Thumbs up" for also going thru random testing thru Vada YET not one mention/question of what testing Ward went thru???
(Or if he tested at all)

Yet they made an entire segment about JMM & PED's to build up why Pac got KTFO.
Double standard... YES.

 

There are still two things to take into account.

1) Wlad still beat a better opponent by a wider margin on the road.

2) More importantly, the ref took control in the Ward fight. The beginning of the fight before he took the deductions away was terrible. Ward looked a lot better once the rust was off and it turned into a cleaner affair. I wish the ref in the Wlad fight had taken control the same way. That's on the ref, however. Just like how it's on the ref when Ward or Hopkins fights; they'll get away with what the ref lets them, and if the other guy can't cope, too bad.

 

kellerman does blow but you cannot compare clinchoe with ward unless you're a clinchoe nuthugger.

 

What about if we're comparing passport photos?

A lot of folks here at ESB haven't set foot inside a boxing ring yet however Kellerman hasn't even participated in a proper streetfight in his entire life, which is a totally different story. The guy is the most unqualified and annoying boxing commentator of all time.....

 

Ward is a dirty fighter and always has been. There's nothing wrong with that per say - in fact I often point Lennox Lewis being a dirty fighter being one of the reason he became the heavyweight King - but it doesn't get you a lot of fans and can contribute to gaining you the lable "boring".

However, even though I have not seen Ward/Rodriguez I am willing to go out on a limb and say that there was less clinching the whole of that fight than there was in four rounds of Wlad/Povetkin. Wlad/Povetkin is right up there with Akinwande/Lewis as one of the worst world title fights in history due to the failure of one or both of the opponents to actually fight, I doubt the same can be said of Ward/Rodriguez.

 

That is true, which is why the announcers last night were insane to complain about the ref taking control. The fight was terrible until the double point deduction and the ref got hit in the face. Then, things cleaned up, Andre started looking like Andre, and he fought very well. It wasn't pretty, but it wasn't Wlad-Povetkin bad, and the ref deserves credit for nipping any chance of that in the bud.

 

Is referee Jack Reiss any kin to Ward??? If not he acted like his father almost. Yes the fight was dirty & out of hand & needed sorting out BUT It was Ward who initiated to dirty tactics . First thing he did was grab Rod's arm & hold on like a leech.
It wasn't till Rod retaliated that Reiss got on his high horse. You could see he wanted to penalize Rod only but that would have been too blatant. Headbutts Accidental???? rabbit punches & incessant holding were all going unpunished by Ward before Rod lost it. When my buddy saw Reiss get caught he said " Pity it didn't knock him out"

Re-watch the fight when....

1. Your ***** isn't bleeding making you the sorry ass irrational, emotional biased **** you are now.

2. Your butt hurtness had sub sided since it's clear as day you hate Ward.


Edwin initiated the majority of the rough house tactics and this can be "CLEARLY" seen from the opening bell of round 1 when he bum rushed Ward and immediately went to wrestling. It's pretty ****ing clear Edwin was mad he was deducted money from his purse so he attempted to make the fight as dirty and personal as he could. Clear as ****ing day. As soon as both fighters were checked( the ref told Edwin he's initiating the majority of it) Ward started getting in his ass and out boxing the **** out of him. Edwin looked like his goal was to get DQ'ed. Edwin tried to make it a dirty fight. I'm now an official fan of Ward only for the reason that he gets too much un-garnered hate from ****s like you. He's the 2nd best fighter in the game. Deal with it and get your sore ***** checked.
