I think I favor Foreman, but not with too much confidence. Schmeling had trouble with Baer's size. Foreman would be a lot of weight for Max to push around. Max was very methodical. I don't see him pressuring George enough to tire him out. I may have it all wrong, but that's the way I feel about it now.
He surely was. He lost clearly, but he pressured the fight and won some rounds. He also rocked Holyfield a few times.
agree. While Holyfield dominated most of the evening, he had to take chances to win some of those rounds and took some punishing shots in the process. A lot of heavyweight wouldn’t have gotten away with that
He was competitive of course and evander felt real danger when foreman landed on his mouth that he said literally " I thought he pulled my teeth"
I like Max here. Foreman lost a lot of rounds to MM and got hit with the kitchen sink. But George fought a lose the battles but win the war type fight with a guy not known for taking a good shot. In his first defense of the title, George got the gift over Schulz. Anyone really think George won that? He looked so slow and ponderous in there. Was missing a lot. And hit with a ton of right hands. Did Schulz miss a right hand? He sure made Axel look like a sharpshooter--and he was not. So I think Max can do better than both MM and Schulz and get the decision over a George Foreman in that timeframe. He'll land lots of punches just like those 2 did and is durable enough to make it to the finish line.
Holy had some very tough moments in this fight, most fighters weren't good enough to overcome that. Not to mention that Foreman beat lineal champion Moorer. He would be dangerous fight for anyone, even though I wouldn't bet on him in most occasions.
See this type of fight happening my self. Foreman coming forward and max doing just enough to stay safe, in front on the cards and every so often, jolt George s head back with a right hand. Max can not afford to be complacent at any point tho, Foreman proved he could drop someone late in the game. Schmeling by 10 rounds to 5 in a 15 rounder.
