Id actually favor braddock, I honestly think schmeling gets a little overated on this forum.

Braddock never looked impressive but was a great fighter for the time, he was an iron chinned champion with alot of heart and a good one two punch and i think he definitely has enough to beat schmeling.

I think Max would have become the first man to regain the title.

Joe Gould went for the better deal with Jacobs.

I'd pick Schmeling. It makes you wonder what it would have done for his historical standing if he, instead of Floyd Patterson, had been the first two time heavyweight world champion. It definitely would be a boost, but then again, Max would have won both of his titles against two of the weakest heavyweight champions ever.

But, beating Braddock convincingly would have helped atone for all the weirdness that went down in the two fights with Sharkey.

If were talking the best Max, he wins by stoppage in about 10

Most people are picking Schmeling, and rightly so in my opinion, but lets play with the alternative scenario.

That would surely have turned the Cinderella Man legend into something huge!

That "info" was in a lot of publications pre-1970. Kinda has been forgotten today..
