Interesting fight. Quarry was always fighting guys bigger than him would have seemed easy to fight someone smaller. The smaller guys he fought that he did so so against were faster then Schmeling: Machen Ellis and Patterson. I watched the whole 2nd Sharkey fight where Max got robbed and he was impressive. Very smart disciplined fighter. That Max could beat Quarry if the dopey Jerry shows up. The one that fought Machen and Chuvalo might get beat. The version of Jerry that fought Frazier the first time or Mac Foster I’m putting my money on in a hard fought match.
This could turn into one of those 1930 s style wars. It's closer than some might imagine imo. I'm leaning towards Max by decision but Quarry could also grab this one.
Intriguing matchup! I lean slightly to Quarry as he had more tools in his arsenal but if Schmeling lands a power right hand and cuts him badly the dynamic instantly changes. If they fought 100 times I'd give Quarry about a 53-47 edge.
I think it's a close fight. I lean towards perhaps a close Schmeling decision. I doubt anyone is stopped
For me Quarry has the better style when they match up against one another. It would be a good style clash and Max would have to figure something out, which with Jerry's defense, was possible. I lean toward Quarry as he was better at putting punches together and moving. I think Quarry could knock Max out by the mid rounds if he keeps putting punishment on Max. Depends on how willing Schmeling is to exchange. Quarry TKO late
An accumulation of Schmeling rights over the course of 15 will lead to Jerry being stopped at some point in the late stages.
Quarry is light on his feet and quick, he’d get in and out and Schmeling, who had flatter feet, may find it hard to time.
