Another interesting match up with Max..... Prime Norton was a decent counter puncher with good boxing skills.....Schmeling was a great counter puncher with good overall boxing skills....Norton was a better physical specimen...... Who and why ?
kenny by ud, good jab, good stamina, bigger, stronger, but his chin was not great. and schmeling has his chance with a lucky right hand in the chin. but i go with keny, he was the better fighter
not sure... I would go with Max by KO, Max KO'd Joe Louis, who could recover much better against good opposition then Kenny did, if Kenny got tagged by a banger then he automatically had problems. Hell even someone like Cobb or Ledoux could hurt Kenny, and by no means are these guys good hitters, espescially compared to Max. max is eventually going to land and when he does, he will stop Norton soon after. Probably countering over a Norton jab.
Had this already a few times. Not a good matchup for Norton. Schmeling dealt very good with Uzcudun who was very strong and was able to be competative with Louis and Baer who both were also very strong, so I think he could hold his own against Ken in this department. Norton´s style was great against boxers but not as good against counterpunchers. I think Norton troubles him until he catches a big one. After that it´s only a matter of time until he goes.
Schmeling got hammered for 10 rounds by one of the hardest punchers at hw ever before giving in. Norton ain´t knocking him out. He might decision him but at best one time in three fights.
i favour max here but this may be a messy fight ,norton and max may not make a classic and i cant see either stopping the other
I think this is the line where Norton beats a puncher, Schmelling is more a counter puncher than an aggressive ko specialist and the lesser offensive output will see Norton's defense handling Max. Norton can back him up and take away his power, if Norton does get hurt he'll have more chance to recover as Max isn't a great finnisher. Plus pure china chins dont take the shots of Holmes/Ali for 4fights. Physically Norton can bully Schmelling, hurt him to the head and body and keep up a viscous workrate with his excellent stamina. I see him overwhelming stopping Schmelling around rounds 7-8
Norton dominates and stops Schmeling in the later rounds ... Norton uses fast , hard jab off 80" reach to keep Schmeling off and wears him down ... again Schmeling dangerous ...
Well, I think there are two possible scenarios on how this fight could play out, with both taking until the late rounds. Either Schmeling finds Norton too often with the right hands the way he did Joe Louis, and Norton was always open for the right hand, or Norton uses his greater size to grind down Schmeling to a stoppage, forcing it with big overhand rights (Norton/Bobick, Baer/Schmeling).
I could certainly imagine a scenario like this with Norton being hurt early and never truly being able to get back in the fight: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vy4iGOif0t8[/ame] 5:50
