Well, who would have won this one?...I can't lead off with an opinion really, because I haven't decided yet..
Schmeling had best not play the chess master in this one, but pull the trigger and let his fists go. He was certainly capable of starting fast, and would do well to maintain that quick start. Beyond that, superior punching technique ought to be sufficient for him to nail down the decision. At his best, Schmeling was not an easy man to decision fairly. His jab and hook to the body are too often overlooked. Because Schmeling sometimes exercised excessive caution, this isn't something I'd put money on. Rosenbloom was a pain in the ass.
good post duodenum. but like you said, when max starts letting his fists go, rosenbloom will be done like dinner. Max's style was very modern(right hand high) lean back bending the torso at all different angles...fast accurate combinations..and a deadly sniper right hand.
Schmeling a strong heavyweight puncher would surely beat the light heavyweight Maxie Rosenbloom...Maxie was a great LH, who would make anyone his own weight look bad, but seldom tackled heavyweights except Al Ettore , who Rosenbloom stopped in his last fight in 1939...
